 Mango

A mango is a stone fruit produced from numerous species of tropical trees belonging to the flowering plant genus Mangifera, cultivated mostly for their edible fruit. Most of these species are found in nature as wild mangoes.

The ripe fruit varies according to cultivar in size, shape, color, sweetness, and eating quality. Depending on cultivar, fruits are variously yellow, orange, red, or green. The fruit has a single flat, oblong pit that can be fibrous or hairy on the surface, and does not separate easily from the pulp.

The fruits may be somewhat round, oval, or kidney-shaped, ranging from 5–25 centimetres in length and from 140 grams to 2 kilograms in weight per individual fruit.

The skin is leather-like, waxy, smooth, and fragrant, with color ranging from green to yellow, yellow-orange, yellow-red, or blushed with various shades of red, purple, pink or yellow when fully ripe.

Ripe intact mangoes give off a distinctive resinous, sweet smell. Inside the pit 1–2 mm thick is a thin lining covering a single seed, 4–7 cm long. Mangoes have recalcitrant seeds which do not survive freezing and drying. Mango trees grow readily from seeds, with germination success highest when seeds are obtained from mature fruits.

The Importance of Choosing Regional and Urban Planning Majors

In my personal opinion, the urban and regional planning study program has a very important role for us and in the future. Why do I say that?

Firstly, in the urban and regional planning study program we can learn the basics of planning, urban morphology, mapping, soil structure, transportation, and design. In addition to studying engineering, we can also study the socio-economics of offices.

Secondly, graduates from this major are called planners, who will later have the competence to plan a city, determine land use, and regulate the activities within it, such as office areas, settlements, industry, and transportation systems.

Thirdly, the job prospects obtained are in the form of; expert on geological maps, transportation planning, building surveyors, consultants in industrial construction, contractors, and lecturers.

From the facts above, it can be concluded that urban and regional planning majors are beneficial for the present and the future.

The Ants and The Dove

Yusuf

One hot day, an ant was seeking some water. After walking around for a moment, she came to a spring. To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell unintentionally into the water.

She could have sunk if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly put off a leaf from a tree and dropped it immediately into the water near the struggling ant. Then the ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up there. Soon it carried her safely to dry ground.

Not long after that, there was a hunter nearby who was throwing out his net towards the dove, hoping to trap it in this way.

Guessing what he should do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net and the dove flew away quickly from this net.

Moral of the story: One good turn deserves another.
